I was brought up in Gomersal , West Yorkshire and decided on there to bring up my own family and to set up my studio there too.
I’m delighted with the area as it has a lovely mix of businesses but still has a small village feel.
Oakwell Hall Country Park is on our doorstep with some short walks, interesting gardens and various wildlife areas as well as an historic house. Red House Museum is right in the centre of Gomersal, a beautiful building well known for its Brontë connections. Charlotte Brontë was a regular visitor and featured Red House in the novel Shirley.
Once you have taken in the historical attractions you can have a lazy lunch at the Wheatsheaf Pub or have lunch on the go from the Ginger Whale deli and take home a selection of their beers to enjoy when you get home.
If you're ever in the Gomersal area, why not make a date to visit my studio and see some of my pieces for yourself? Visitors are always welcome, just ring ahead on 01274 270596/07811 609607 to check I'm in first. You’ll find me at ‘The Old Bank’ on Oxford Road, Gomersal and I'm generally around from Monday to Friday (term time), from 9am until 3pm. I often open on Saturdays, too, so do plan a visit around a nice local pub lunch.
Thanks for reading and look forward to seeing you soon, CG x
